Herzoghof (The „Duke’s Court“)
The 12th cent. was a period of prosperitiy and growth for Krems. So, a new fortified building was errected in order to protect and defend a new part of the town: the Herzoghof (the „Duke’s Court“) which nowadays is one of the most ancient buildings of Krems!
Over the centuries, the building had several owners, like the monastery of Lilienfeld, the civil hospital of Krems, and it was also used as the Protestant house of Prayer.
Today, we see three parts of the former building complex, the Palas, a tower and the Chapel of St. Andrew.
