Course (detailed): This almost three-hour hike takes you from the shipping and world heritage center via the two roundabouts to the art mile Krems and then left over the Kremser Tor into the old town of Steiner. Shortly before the parish church, take the Frauenberg staircase that branches off to the right in order to reach the Frauenberg. You then go through the church and then turn left. You then reach Reisperbachtalstraße via the Hintere Fahrstraße, which you go uphill. Shortly after the last houses, the Reisperbach Valley nature trail begins, which is best followed on the "Bachweg". Numerous panels lovingly and precisely painted by Eduard Cahak along the way show the local fauna and flora. At the end of the nature trail, turn right, cross the Reisperbach and reach the “Red Cross”. There you turn right again and follow the white-yellow-white marking on Sentalstraße. Shortly before a left-hand turn, stairs branch off on the left which take you to a narrow path where you continue uphill. Finally, you come to Dr.-Max-Thorwesten-Straße in the Egelsee district of Krems, into which you turn right. This then merges a little later with Sentalstraße, which leads you to Braunsdorferstraße, into which you also turn right. Shortly after the highest point of this street, a signposted path branches off to the right to the Donauwarte, from which you have a beautiful view of almost the entire Krems city area. Then go behind the view point, following the red-white-red marking, through the pedestrian passage in the fence. At the junction take the left path, shortly after you cross a forest road. You then come to the asphalted Braunsdorferstraße via a narrow path. Before a right-hand turn, you can take a shortcut across the forest, then head downhill again on Braunsdorferstrasse. You will then come to an intersection with green painted railings to the left and right of the street. Turn left here, then right a few meters further. With the cross already in sight you turn left into a crossing street. Then take a right-hand turn on the street from which you can enjoy a beautiful view on the left of the Krems campus in the old town of Krems and the eastern parts of the city. On the right you see the cross, which is why this mountain is also called “Steiner Kreuzberg” (“Kreuz”=cross, “Berg”=mountain) by many. You reach this cross via a narrow path. Then you descend towards Stein. At the next crossroads, turn into the street that branches off to the left at a right angle, walk along the railing and then turn left again. This street takes you to Steiner Kellergasse, which you follow to the east. You pass the Rebentor and shortly after you come to Neutorgasse, through which you go to Steiner Landstraße and then turn left into it. In front of house No. 27, turn right into Salzamtgasse. Through this you come to the Steiner Donaulände, into which you turn left. On the left hand side you can now see numerous historical buildings, for example medieval salt warehouses such as the one that now houses the "Salzstadl" restaurant. Finally you come back to the roundabout at the Landsgalerie and turn right here to get back to the starting point of the hike.
